Muckle Cottage enjoys the tranquil location of Portinscale and the Newlands Valley with all it's breathtaking beauty, whilst commanding a high standard of self catering accommodation. It is only a short leisurely walk to lake Derwentwater, and the marina, where boats and canoes may be hired. A stroll of 500m brings you to the second, Nichol End Marina, which is a pickup/ drop off point for the Keswick Launch. The launch ferries passengers all round Derwentwater dropping off at several points, including Keswick itself. The beautiful Newlands Valley provides great walking terrain and for the more energetic, Grizedale Pike can be walked from your front door. Portinscale Village has a pub serving food and real ale, a tearoom, together with a hotel which also serves food and real ale. Basics such as and milk and eggs my be purchased at the village tearooms, or alternatively at the fabulous 'Booths' store in central Keswick. The market town of Keswick is less than a mile from Muckle Cottage and its shops, local pubs and restaurants can be enjoyed the year round. Children welcome from any age.
